Ulysse Nardin, the popular manufacturer of high quality wristwatches was opened in 1846 by Ulysse Nardin. The brand was occupied with manufacture of sea chronographs whose best quality very soon made the brand popular.
Up to the second half of the XX century these big chronographs in wooden boxes had fantastic demand in many maritime states.
Then electronic devices replaced sea instruments. This made Ulysse Nardin abandon production of sea chronographs and the Ulysse Nardin started development of collector’s wristwatches. In 1983 Ulysse Nardin was bought by Rolf Schneider. Though Rolf Schneider did not know much about watch making, he contributed greatly to the company’s prosperity by partnership with the such great watch makers as Ludwig Oechslin.
Ludwig Oechslin suggested Schneider, who was in search for new ideas, to start manufacture of astronomic watch models. As the result the company presented to public such wristwatches as Tellurium Johannes Kepler, Astrolabium Galileo Galilei and Planetarium Nicolas Kopernicus. These watch models are loved not only by astronomers, but by anyone who adores interesting watches of the highest quality.
Among Ulysse Nardin wristwatches there is such a great timepiece as the Perpetual Ludovice GMT that has many complications that are very useful for those who travel much.
Other great timepiece by UN is the Freak wristwatch that was presented in 2002. This is the most unusual tourbillion the world ever saw. The wristwatch features a unique triggering mechanism.
The Sonata watch that is also fantastic, was presented to public in 2003. This watch is an outstanding alarm clock whose sound is really amazing.
In 2010 Ulysse Nardin presented the El Toro wristwatch. The timepiece possesses such functions as hours, minutes, seconds, second time zone, perpetual calendar and other nice complications. The El Toro looks very beautiful with its gold or platinum case. The movement of the El Toro can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. The wearer of this wristwatch must not take it off for swimming – the timepiece is waterproof to 100 m. The watch has a rubber or alligator strap. The El Toro is offered in a limited edition of 500 pieces. Brilliantwatch for true connoisseurs!
